19 September 08: The Taurus was deposited at Kwik Kar last night, after the alternator failed during my trek home on I-35W.
This means that today I must invoke the service of my backup vehicle.
So I took Aric to school, as I do each school day, but then paused the Trans Am at the very spot where, in January 2004, I stopped to call my boss at work. "I will not be able to attend the meeting this morning" I began, "I have been having these headaches and
something is not right." What an understatement that turned out to be.
I had to sojourn to Kwik Kar this morning to provide the Taurus key. While I was there, might as well get the oil changed.
Every ride in the TA is a retrace of my life in the late 1970s. I look back and see God's faithfulness in keeping me out of trouble and identifying areas in my spirit that need attention. And frequently it is not correction that the Lord sends my way. Indeed it is possible to put a smile on God's face. I love the feeling I get when I have pleased Him. All of this is made possible
because of the bridge spanning the gap between man and his Creator.
The retrace ride resumes at a historical marker. I enjoy learning the history of this area, and was not previously aware of John's Well. These glimpses into the past provide a measure of motivation to carry on in memory of those who have gone before us.
A trip to Home Depot and now back home to rehost a plant. This activity is a retrace, since I received this foliage from a friend
in February 2004, shortly after brain surgery. I am reminded of the continual emotional and logistical support I have enjoyed
since then from those so moved to offer a hand. One noteable manifestation of this is the prayer pager.
The plant does not have worms - it has a web of roots that need more space. In fact the plastic container was actually warped by the plant's advances. I had to literally cut the planter away from the plant!
After these activities, there are only two things remaining: Praise the Lord and consume BBQ, in that order!
BBQ is not a retrace. It is a refuel!
