![]() 01 May 2008: Thursday in Moldova. We are walking through a huge park and garden. In the background is the "Gate to the City" of Chisinau. |
![]() Beautiful foliage... |
![]() ...lush and green |
![]() The next generation of trees announces their arrival. |
![]() A detour off the main path yields this tank on wheels, reminding us of the description of a 12 ton bakery we had received earlier in the day. Boris pays particular attention to the wheels. |
![]() Stella is more than curious. Nelly and Gaby scurry away, mildly amused. |
![]() This park is clean and inviting. Countless, massive trees that are not found in Denton County in Texas. |
![]() I would not be surprised to see Stella on the cover of the next Cover Girl magazine. |
![]() Gaby and Stella take this walk to the next level. |
![]() The rest of the group moves forward, while they fashion an organic kazoo from a dandelion stem. |
![]() Soon everyone is making these sounds, blowing air through the hollow stems to make a most distinctive harmonious sound. I am having trouble with split ends. |
![]() Back pressure builds, turning me on edge. |
![]() But eventually persistence is rewarded, and I join the choir. I quickly learn how to modulate the sound as a function of air pressure, velocity and mouth cavity. Boris then joyfully crowns me the kazoo King. |
![]() There is no way to digitally capture the hilarity of two 16 year old twins and three supposed adults walking down a lonely path in Moldova producing odds sound from weeds as the rain falls. This was an analog event that will not be forgotten. |
